How-to guide on listing a trip aboard your own boat
Your offer is easy to find and visible on a map
The search is location-based, ensuring that your listing remains visible regardless of when you created it. You only need to publish your trip once, and your advertisement won't get lost among other posts.
Receive all messages without filtering
Have you ever wondered why you don't receive messages on social media platforms? It could be due to their messaging filters. On Seilii, you receive notifications to your email, and all enquiries are visible in your inbox. We do not filter your messages.
Review sailing experience and skills focused profiles
Seilii has focused on how profiles are created, aiming to provide relevant information to sailors about each other. When messaging, the potential crew already knows basic details about you and your trip, and you can also view their profile, saving time on discussing basic information.
Step-by-step listing guide
1. Sign up to create a listing. Ensure you verify your email, as you will receive message notifications there. TIP: Build a comprehensive profile to help sell your listing. Others want to know more about you before deciding to join your sailing trip.
2. Go to "List a sailing opportunity," select a listing type and category, and provide details of your planned passage or other sailing trips. TIP: Your offer can be anything from a longer passage to leisure sailing in a specific area. The trip does not need to be a point A to B passage. Just provide enough details about your plans.
3. Choose the start location, which will be shown on the map when sailors search for opportunities. TIP: If you want to save your listing as a draft and finalise it later, you must get to this point before it's saved automatically.
4. Upload high quality photos. TIP: If you’ve sailed in the area before, use those photos. It's also recommended to add good photos of your boat and its amenities. You can also add more photos of yourself and other sailors onboard (of course with their permission).
5. Publish your listing! Start getting enquiries. TIP: You will receive email notifications for any enquiries. Ensure your email you used for signing up for Seilii is verified and messages don't go to the spam folder.
6. Review the profiles of interested sailors and message them back.

Can I collect shared expense contributions?
Yes, you can, and it is up to you how you want to organise it. Agree on the method with the sailors who want to join your trip. Remember not to share any personal banking details in the listing, as it is publicly available to everyone. Currently, Seilii does not offer a feature to collect shared expense contributions from others.
What happens after the initial messaging?
Currently, Seilii facilitates profile creation, trip advertisement, and messaging. After messaging each other, it's up to you how you want to proceed. We recommend either meeting face-to-face or, if that's not possible, having a (video) call and checking any available references. This helps ensure compatibility in terms of personality, experience, and skills before sailing together.
I have been contacted by a person who has friends coming too. Can I see their profiles?
Sign-up and profile creation on Seilii are personal, as is the messaging between parties. It's perfectly fine for someone to ask if their friends can join, but if you want to chat with them personally and review their profiles, you can request that they sign up for Seilii and create a profile. This is a great way to keep track of the people joining your sailing trip.
I'm not planning to do much sailing, rather just enjoy the location where my boat is. Can I list it to find other sailors to keep me company?
Absolutely! You can list any type of sailing experience on your boat, including simply enjoying the location where your boat is moored. Whether you're looking for company from digital nomads for a week or two, feel free to list your opportunity. Go for it!
Can I list multiple sailing opportunities?
Yes, you can. You can also edit those listings if your plans change, as we understand that things often change in sailing. You can create listings for individual legs or for the entire trip. It's up to you.
I have enough crew for my boat. How do I close the listing?
You can manage your listings through your profile under 'Your Listings' and close a listing when needed. This hides it from the search results, making it no longer available. If you want to edit and reopen it, you can simply do so.
